DIY Swiffer Hacks
I'm always trying to discover new ways to save money. Because let's face it, more money... will allow you to live more comfortably. Ive always loved the Swiffer products, because they were so convenient. But I did not like the price of the refills.
You can buy a complete kit (mop+solution+pads) for about $25, but then have to buy the cleaning solution refills and pad refills. (And they are single use only!)
It can become quite costly, and adds up to be about 30 cents per cleaning.(assuming you mop about 10 times a month) Luckily for swiffer lovers, there is another alternative! A more cost efficient one.
Swiffer Hacks:
▪︎Reusable Sweeper Pads
Swiffer pads are single use only, so using this reusable pad hack, is genius!
Use a fuzzy sock in place of a pad.
Just slip the sock onto the base of your Swiffer and use it just like you normally would.
The fuzzy material is perfect for picking up dust and dirt. When you’re done you can wash the sock with the rest of your laundry, and use it again and again!
(This hack works for both the Swiffer wetjet and the Swiffer Sweeper!)
▪︎DIY WetJet Cleaning Solution
Cleaning pads are only one part of the WetJet, what about those pricey bottles of cleaning solution that snap into the WetJet? Luckily it’s easy to mix up a homemade version of that cleaning solution at home
(and there’s a trick you can use to get it into the special WetJet bottle!)
Solution Ingredients:
• 1 cup white vinegar
• 1 cup water
• 3-5 drops dish soap
Directions:
1. Add the vinegar, water, and dish soap to a small bowl
2. Stir to combine.
*To get your homemade solution into the special WetJet bottle, you’ll need to loosen the cap with some hot water.
1. Bring a small pot of water to a boil on your stovetop, then turn off the heat.
2. Submerge the cap end of the WetJet bottle completely in the hot water, then hold it there for about 90 seconds.
3. Next, remove the bottle from the water and place a towel or rag over the cap. Twist the cap, and it should come right off!
4 Pour the prepared cleaning solution into the open bottle, then twist the cap back on. Shake the bottle gently to make sure everything is mixed up, and you are ready to use!
